However, there are also a number of other reasons why you may find yourself requiring the service of a family law firm. If you are living in the United Kingdom, and need a family law firm, then you might be finding it difficult to narrow down your search. After all, there are countless numbers of legal firms in the country and to go through all of them and the family law solicitors they hire thoroughly, examining their worth, is an extremely time consuming process.Â
My advice would be to devise a checklist of the things you seek from your family law firm. This will make it easy for you to rule out and rule in possible companies. You can then devise a short list for you to choose from.Â
So what should you include in your checklist? First and foremost, the amount of money you are able to pay for a family solicitor is going to be a key factor. As part of this, it is also worth considering payment terms. In other words, how do you want to pay for the service? Think about fixed fees, all in one payments, monthly direct debits etc…
The next part of the checklist should be to do with the solicitor themselves. Think about the minimum years experience you want the legal expert to have and exclude anyone who has not worked for the amount of time you’ve set. Bare in mind, some people will be naturally skilled of course, but as a very broad generalisation, a more experienced solicitor may cost more hourly but be able to complete work faster. And of course, they may well have far more experience in successfully winning court cases too. On this note, I would also suggest including a success rate figure for the solicitor you seek. My advice would be to not go for anyone with less than a 70% success rate. Take the time to read reviews that have been left by other people too; there are independent review websites that can assist you on your search.
The final part of the checklist should be the location of the firm. Work out how long it will take you to get there and how much hassle you would experience. This is good because it will rule out some companies altogether, especially if you happen not to drive for example, or if you work long hours so need a firm nearby your place of employment. Basically it will allow you to also narrow down your shortlist based on which is the easiest for you.
Hopefully by devising a checklist you will find it much easier to find a family law firm, whether London based or elsewhere in the country, which suits you. Getting organised and knowing exactly what you are looking for should mean a much better chance that you will find the perfect company to suit your needs and hopefully give the best possible chance of winning your case.
