I have recently discovered Readly; the ideal app for anyone who reads magazines or newspapers! Readly is a digital magazine and newspaper subscription app that provides unlimited access to over 5,000 magazines and newspapers all in one place. That’s pretty cool, right?
Even more so when you think about the benefits reading has on our wellbeing. Scientists at the University of Sussex found that reading for just six minutes lowered stress levels by 68%. This is a stronger effect than going for a walk (42%), drinking a cup of tea or coffee (54%), or listening to music (61%). That seems like fairly solid proof that reading is a great way to relax and unwind!
About Readly
Founded by Joel Wikel from Sweden in 2012, Readly wants to help both preserve content and keep it accessible to everyone. The subscription app has more than 5000 UK and international magazines and newspapers at your fingertips, including both current and back issues too. This is great if you have just got into a specific magazine and want to backtrack to read previous issues! Or if you have a particular interest and want plenty to read on the subject (e.g. music). The subscription also includes puzzles, crosswords and suduko; so there is plenty to keep you busy!
Features of Readly
The monthly subscription costs £7.99 and can be cancelled anytime. The account can also be used on up to 5 different devices, so you can share with friends and family too. You can set a different profile for each family member/ person under the same account (up to 5 profiles) and it has a parental control feature with PIN number for child profiles to prevent access to publications only suitable to adults. Plus, for those who want to properly shut down without wi-fi, you can download up to 500 editions and read them in the offline mode too.
A Wide Selection of Magazines and Newspapers
Readly magazine and newspaper subscription app has a wide selection of magazines to suit a range of interests. There are lots of hobby and lifestyle mags, education, kids and so on. I spotted TIME, BBC Good Food, Your Cat and Stuff under my recommendations. In terms of papers, there are several; including The Independent and The Guardian, for example.
I had a browse through the educational magazines and found lots that would be useful for coding. This is just one example that caught my eye personally as we have been working on coding sites alot recently. I was also pleased to find The Writers Magazine we already subscribe to on the app too. Whatever your interest you are bound to discover plenty of options to read!
If you are a parent, there are also a host of awesome magazines for kids to check out on Readly. Some highlights are: Beano, National Geographic Kids, Shout!, Storytime, Film Stories Junior and Ultimate Superhero.
Readly Review Summary
If you already subscribe to a magazine or two, or regularly buy newspapers or magazines for you or the kids, a Readly subscription could really save you money! Not to mention having access to far more of a selection than you would have otherwise too of course. In my opinion this magazine subscription app is well worth a try!

This would be great, I can’t remember the last time I read a magazine (either physical or online), I used to buy them to read on my lunch at work or when at the hairdressers or travelling, and not done any of these things for a long time, I keep meaning to have a look at the Readily app as I miss my magazines!

I home educated my son because he didn’t fit into the system. It was an enormous undertaking so I was interested to read your features on home education. We faced a lot of prejudice for choosing to home educate, usually based on ignorance. My son did well and attended a top university and is now in his late twenties working abroad. Well done offering other parents information, support and inspiiration.
