Exploring London: My Top Picks

I love wandering around London. Most recently, I have been for lovely long walks around Islington, Camden, Notting Hill, various parts of the West End and Brick Lane. But there are so many fab spots to explore on foot it can be hard to know where to start! So here are some of my top picks of where to venture in London this summer… Notting Hill There is alot to explore in this affluent trendy area of London. There are numerous restaurants, bars and cafes to relax with a drink or enjoy a delicious meal. A visit to Portabello Road Market is a must too! A casual wander is nice, but if you fancy something abit more organised then consider taking a Notting Hill tour. Notting Hill

There is alot to explore in this affluent trendy area of London. There are numerous restaurants, bars and cafes to relax with a drink or enjoy a delicious meal. A visit to Portabello Road Market is a must too! A casual wander is nice, but if you fancy something abit more organised then consider taking a Notting Hill tour.

You can find out about the history of the area from a local expert, see points of interest from musical history and famous film locations, and spot celebrity homes past and present. All with the help of your tour guide. Then end up at the Portabello Road Market to sample the delicious international cuisine, watch the buskers and soak up the atmosphere.

Little Venice

This area is the junction from the Grand Union canal at Paddington and Regent Canal. The perfect place to have afternoon drinks and a bite to eat by the water, then go for a lovely lazy stroll along the canal. Or get a boat ride to London Zoo. However you choose to spend your time, this is an ideal pretty scenic location to roam on a summer day.

South Bank

There is always something going on at South Bank! This glorious cultural hub has a wealth of arts, restaurants, bars and entertainment. Walk along the River Thames enjoying the street performers whilst also appreciating the most iconic London landmarks too. Or sit down and take in the gorgeous views while relaxing with a drink. There is a range of food choices to suit all tastes, including vegans and veggies choices well catered for. And don’t forget to check out one of several art galleries too!

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

I went to the Olympic Park in Stratford to watch the summer Paralympics, back in 2012 when it was newly built, and I have been meaning to go back for another visit ever since. It is a great place for a summer day; if you have kids with you there are playgrounds and play water fountains too! (Not on during major events).

Of course, these are just a few ideas; there are lots of other cool things to do too. If you are a movie buff you may even want to do a walking tour of London film locations! Whatever you decide, there are plenty of wonderful days out to choose from anytime you are in the Capital.
