Lighter Colours

When you have a very small property, you need to make sure that you avoid dark colours. If you don’t then you may end up making your home feel way smaller than it actually is and this is the last thing that you need. Lighter shades are known for opening up a space and it can make it feel way brighter and airier too. If you are having a hard time knowing which colour scheme to go for then pastel colours are great as they add personality without you having to worry about how you’re going to tie in your décor.

Mount Everything on the Wall

If floor space is going to be an issue in your smaller property, then try and make sure that you utilise wall space. You can add some shelves to get things off the floor; when you do, you will then be able to add décor without losing out too much. This allows a smaller property to appear more spacious.

Curtain Dividers

One problem that a lot of people have when they have a small home is that they struggle to separate their space. This is understandable because if you have a door then you lose out on room because of the opening required. And generally, smaller properties may have less rooms than are actually needed. If you want to get around this then you may want to invest in a curtain divider. When you do, you will be able to get the best of both worlds and you can even incorporate a bit of colour as well.

Under the Stairs

If you have enough space, you may want to try and utilise the area under your stairs. This doesn’t always need to be used for clutter! In fact, many people decorate this space and add shelves or storage areas. If you want to have your own office, then why not try and incorporate a desk and some basic supplies so that you can really maximise your home.

Window Treatments

You may want to use a lot of wall space, but you also need to remember that windows are also important. Windows will provide you with some much-needed light and they also help you to expand the perceived size of your home. One way for you to use this to your advantage would be for you to add some sheer curtains or even to choose some nice blinds. When you do, you will soon find that your space feels bigger and nicer.

(Side note: Not a nice thought of course, but should you have inherited a property because a relative has been involved in an accident, then you may be able to make a claim under wrongful death. Simply find a law firm that delivers results)
